Reza Shah Pahlavi and Invasion of England and the Former Soviet Union

Reza Shah Pahlavi declared Iran a neutral state during World War Two. However, England and the former Soviet Union did not honour the international laws and launched a military strike at Iran to steal oil from Iran. Most importantly, England, the former Soviet Union, attacked Iran because Reza Shah Pahlavi moved Iran toward Cyrus the Great's epoch. Iranians no longer relied on the mullahs' healing magics to cure themselves of illnesses. Science had the final word for progress and prosperity.

When Reza Shah Pahlavi was modernizing Iran's army, it did not have real power to defend the national sovereignty of Iran. Consequently, Iran's military was a kitty cat against England and the Soviet Union's armies.

The question that comes to mind that what did Iranians learn from that historical event? If Iranians would stand side by side, England and the Soviet Union armies could not invade Iran. England and the Soviet Union armies would have a second thought of attacking Iran.

The other question that comes to mind that what if Iranians would stand side by side during 1953? If Iranians stood side by side at the historical moment of 1953, the 1953 Coup would not happen. The 1953 Coup happened because Iranians did not resolve their differences.

The other question that comes to mind that what did happen in 1979 in Iran? Iranians did not stand side by side to protect Iran and Mohammad Reza Shah Pahlavi. Khomeini promised Iranians a free-ride society and attacked the King.

Iran is not a homogenous society. Iran is composed of diverse ethnic groups. Ultimately it is impossible to have one Iran that all people speak the same language, same idea, and way of looking at life. It is the wide range of views on the issues that provide deep thinking about reaching the right decision. Therefore, diversity of political ideologies is our strength to build a peaceful Iran.

What I learned from the England and the Soviet Union invasion of Iran at the time of Reza Shah Pahlavi, England and other foreign nations do not have the best interest in their hearts for Iran. Iranians from different backgrounds and diverse views need to come together to build a peace bridge in Iran.
